Fight procrastination

Tips to stay productive

Follow these handy tips to get into your study groove and prevent procrastination.

  1. What's your optimal study time?

Choose the time of day that suits you best for study.

Consider your study/work/life schedule and when you feel most alert and productive.

  2. Book it in

Once you know your optimal study time, allocate blocks of time in your calendar so that you are committed and not available for other activities.

  3. Find your zone

    Choose where you work wisely.

Being comfortable while studying is important, as you want to be able to immerse yourself in what you’re doing without the potential distraction of a sore neck, strained eyes or being too hot or cold.

  4. Rid the distractions

Get into your study zone by creating a space that is free from distractions - like your phone buzzing with Instagram or Snapchat alerts.

Put it on flight mode and away from you so you can keep your attention on the task at hand.

If you’re studying at home or in a group, make it clear to those around you that you’re in study mode, so you can get down to business.

  5. Gear up

Aim for a simple workspace, keeping only the gear you need for each task.

This will allow you to keep chipping away at one task without getting distracted by other things in view.

  6. Snacks on hand

Stock up on water and nutritious brain fuelling snacks. We love nuts, fruit, crackers and dip or muesli bars.

Avoid sugary snacks as they tend to give you spikes in energy followed by a slump, which hinders concentration.

  7. Get help

    Have you tried using StayFocusd?

It’s an extension for Google Chrome that increases your productivity by limiting the amount of time that you can spend on time-wasting websites.
