The secret to balancing work and study

Follow these small steps to better manage your big schedule

Classes, shift work, time with friends and family – you’re really busy!

We know it’s hard to find time for all your responsibilities but by practicing good organisational habits from early on, you’ll be in a better position to manage busy schedule. Here are some helpful tips to help you manage your time.

Set a schedule

It may seem basic but scheduling your day really works. Try to block out time in your schedule each day for studying, work and personal time for rest or hanging out with friends. Not only will you be able to keep track of how many hours you’re devoting toward each activity, you’ll be able to hold yourself accountable for making sure you spend enough time keeping up with your studies.

Get a calendar

Now that you’ve planned out your days, avoid unnecessary stress and organisational anxiety with one of the oldest and simplest apps around – the calendar. Google Calendar can keep track of all of your work and personal events across all your devices, and can even do all the work
to help you reach your personal goals (except studying for that exam you’ve been dreading – that’s all you).

Find a flexible job

The sharing economy is perfect for bending to fit a hectic course load. Make money while driving for Uber or offer up your skills on Airtasker and enjoy being able to set your own hours according to your study schedule. Work more during slow school periods, and cut back your hours during exam season.
