Have you thought about what living the dream means to you? Living the dream means different things to everyone. Whether it is going on a holiday every year or owning your dream home there are things you can do to make this happen.
New research released by the Financial Planning Association (FPA) of Australia to mark Financial Planning Week (21-27 August 2017)^1, shows that Australians believe living the dream means having the lifestyle of their choice.
Most of the measures Australians attribute to ‘living the dream’ are linked to the success of personal finance.
How do we define the dream?
When asked to define ‘the dream’, most Australians refer to the ability to live the life they want; a life characterised by financial independence, safety and security for their family, their own home and time to spend with loved ones. See table 1 below for more.
According to the FPA’s research Australians who are living the dream have the lowest levels of financial stress of all Australians. Almost three in ten Australians admit being extremely or very stressed about their financial situation, with women much more likely than men to be affected.
We want to help you live your dream
'Australians who are living the dream are nearly twice as likely to seek / have sought advice from a financial planner (66%) than those who are not living the dream (38%)'^1
